Army ‘attempt’ to shoot at rallying students fails
Kathmandu, February 8:
The attempt of a Royal Nepalese Army soldier to shoot at the rallying students at Bangemuda in Kathmandu failed, as the cartridge of his gun fell down, said Pradeep Poudel, vice president of the Nepal Students’ Union.
Poudel, who was in the forefront during the protest rally organised from Thahity, said he was fortunate enough to save his life somehow after the cartridge of the gun fell down while the army pressed the trigger pointing at him in Bangemuda.“I managed to flee from the site when the army knelt down to pick up the cartridge,” he said. He said the incident was captured by the cameramen of Image Channel and Nepal 1 TV channels. However, the army personnel seized both the cameras and asked them to delete the images. The Nepal 1 reporter also confirmed the incident.
