Around 2,000 vehicles impounded in Valley on polling day

KATHMANDU: Police have impounded around 2,000 vehicles plying on the street in the Capital on the polling day without obtaining a permission.

The Election Commission has prohibited the operation of vehicles from 5:00 am to 7:00 pm except those with permits from EC, ambulances, and vehicles carrying security personnel.

According to Inspector Madhusudan Silwal at Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Division, a total of 1,834 motorcycles, 76 cars, 28 trucks, eight micro buses and six buses were impounded till 1:00 pm.

Twenty-five thousand rupees would be fined if vehicles are found operating against EC's code of conduct while traffic police could fine Rs 500-Rs 5,000 if vehicles are found operated in prohibited areas.
