KATHMANDU, DECEMBE 23
The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) secretariat held an emergency meeting on Monday afternoon and appointed party Vice-President Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal as the party's acting president.
Previously, some RSP leaders stated that Rabi Lamichhane would not be replaced and that he was the undisputed leader.
The RSP's current vice-presidents are DP Aryal and Swarnim Wagle. They are also members of the parliament. Biraj Bhakta Shrestha is the parliamentary party's deputy leader.
"The secretariat meeting has decided to appoint Vice President Aryal as acting president," reads a statement issued by Manish Jha, RSP's acting spokesperson. "The secretariat meeting chose Aryal as acting president based on President Lamichhane's recommendation."
On Sunday, the District Government Attorney's Office in Kaski filed a case against Lamichhane in Kaski District Court, charging him with four counts of cooperative fraud, organised crime, and money laundering.
