At least seven injured in Kathmandu storm
KATHMANDU: At least seven people were injured in the storm that hit the Kathmandu Valley at around 4 pm, according to Nepal Police headquarters.
However, no fatality was reported to the police till this 6:45 pm.
Two persons were injured when a tree fell down in front of the Tri-Chandra Campus. They were rushed to the Bir Hospital for treatment.
A person was hit by a brick that fell from the Swayambhu Stupa. The injured was taken to the Manamohan Hospital.
A woman was hurt during a stampede at Sitapaila, on the outskirts of Kathmandu, while another person who was on a taxi was injured after it was by a falling water tank in Kandaghari.
Police said another person was injured after he fell down on the ground during the dust storm. Likewise, a person was injured in Balkot after he was hit by a falling utility pole.
Utility poles and trees have toppled in several places in the Valley, obstructing the traffic.
The storm had brought the traffic movement to a grinding halt in the Kathmandu Valley, and affected the domestic as well as international flights.
