Kathmandu, July 3:
The Dean’s Office of the Institute of Engineering (IoE) and two engineering colleges —Thapathali Campus and Purwanchal Campus — today agreed to meet their students’ demands. The agreement was reached at a meeting of student unions and principals of Thapathali and Purwanchal campuses, and the IoE. The IoE has agreed to provide 75 per cent discount to the students who have passed Diploma in Engineering from any of its constituent campuses under full fee paying programme for BE (Bachelor in Engineering) level.
According to a press release issued here today by the Nepal Students’ Union, both the
parties agreed to re-examine drawing of the Automobile Faculty and to increase teachers’ quota for computer and electronics programmes. The concerned campus will bear the expenditure of the project works and 40 per cent amount of the full fee paying students will be used on laboratory and books. The meeting also agreed to form a committee to investigate
Women’s Hostel of the Purwanchal Campus. The committee will provide its report by August 14. The students of Thapathali and Purwanchal campuses had held a sit-in at the Dean’s Office on June 26 to get their demands fulfilled. The Dean’s Office had formed a five-member committee under the leadership of Dr Govind Pokhrel to study the three-point demands put forth by the agitating student unions.
