Awards for litterateurs

KATHMANDU: This year’s Dev Kumari Thapa Children’s Literature Banita Award is being awarded to Professor Chuna Mani Bandhu for his contribution to the development of children’s literature in the country. The award was established in 2058 BS.

The award carries a purse of Rs 10,000 and a copper plate.

The award will be conferred on him next month amidst a function.

Similarly, Udaynanda Arjyal Guthi has decided to honour Basanta Kumar Sharma Nepal with Adi Mahakabi Udaynanda Arjyal Award.

Sharma, who has nearly 100 books in his name, will receive a purse of Rs 25,000 as award.

Likewise, Janamat Publication has decided to present this year’s Janamat Senior Literature Award to Modnath Prashrit of Kathmandu and Ganesh-Khil Kumari Duwal Janamat Award to Jagdish Ghimire of Ramechhap.

Meanwhile, Deepa-Janamat Award will be awarded to Badri Lal Shrestha of Kupondol, Kewalpure- Janamat Award will be presented to Beena Hangim of Darjeeling, Janmat- Janak Sewa Award to Prabhat Sapkota of Kavre.

Similarly, the publication will present the Kamala Sainju-Janamat Award to Geeta Chhetri of Darjeeling.

Janamat- Mahendra Lal Artiste Award will be awarded to KG Ranjit of Kathmandu and Janamat- Samhayatri Award will be presented to Omi Sharma of Kathmandu, according Janamat’s chief editor Mohan Duwal.

The awards will be conferred at a function to be organised on the occasion of 26th anniversary of the publication.
