Awareness vital to control rabies

Kathmandu, September 27:

The World Rabies Day is being celebrated tomorrow with the theme “Awareness is the Best Defence against Rabies”.

Various public health and veterinary organisations are joining hands to raise awareness on the dreaded disease.

Kathmandu Animal Treatment Centre is organising a programme to disseminate information about rabies in Vishnumati VDC, Budhanilkantha and other places.

According to the Nepal Veterinary Association (NVA), around 150 people die of rabies in the country. The Nepal Veterinary Association has called all to vaccinate dogs and root out the disease.

NVA, Veterinary Public Health Office and National Zoonosis Food Hygiene and Research Centre are organising an awareness rally tomorrow to mark the day.
