Baburam Bhattarai dons Daura-Suruwal, Kamal Thapa 'loved it'

KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister of Nepal and Convenor of Naya Shakti Party Baburam Bhattarai was spotted wearing Daura-Surwal for the first time, publicly, today.

Bhattarai, who is currently on a month long (Jan 29- Feb 29) country tour Jana-Samwad (face-to-face with people), reached the Karnali Province today. Bhattarai, who had previously donned various ethnic costumes according to the area he was visiting or the cultural event he was attending, was seen in a daura-suruwal look, in the province which is a Khas majority area.

His new 'avatar' soon became a trending topic on social media where some appreciated his new looks while others were quick to criticise him given his past statements on the costume.

Likewise, chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Kamal Thapa took to his Twitter to express his appreciation. 'Loved it Baburam Bhattarai'- Thapa captioned his tweet with Bhattarai's picture with daura-suruwal.

Earlier, Thapa had expressed a 'wish' that he would want to see Bhattarai put on a Daura Suruwal someday.
