Kathmandu, September 11:

Women belonging to the Badi community today staged a peaceful sit-in at the southern gate of Singha Durbar.

A press release issued here by the National Badi Struggle Committee (NBSC) said that today’s protest was part of protest programmes announced by the NBSC after its national convention on August 16.

Women from the community have been demanding representation in the CA, loans to start something on their own and employment opportunities. “The government has not been serious on our demands,” the statement said.

Today, the committee made public another phase of protest programmes. Members of the community will be staging a sit-in in front of the PM’s residence tomorrow.
