Gautam not contesting by-election: NCP Co-chair Dahal
Kathmandu, October 12
Co-chairperson of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said party leader Bamdev Gautam had told him that he would not contest by-election from Kathmandu Constituency-7.
Addressing an interaction organised on the occasion of Dashain here today, Dahal said neither Ram Bir Manandhar, who represents Kathmandu-7, in the House of Representatives would resign nor would Bamdev Gautam contest by-election. “Now we will not think of such an issue leaving aside development issues,” Dahal said.
Dahal said his party, which commanded two-thirds majority in the Parliament, had both opportunity and challenges. If we can work unitedly, our party can govern the country for 50 years, he argued.
Dahal said there was no option but to bring the unity process to a logical conclusion and carry out development projects to fulfil people’s aspirations. He said the government had signed important deals with India and China.
