KATHMANDU, JUNE 14

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu has distributed more than 1,750 kilograms of premium Bangladeshi mangoes to Nepali dignitaries and members of the diplomatic community under its annual "Season's Best Compliments" initiative.

According to the embassy, mangoes were presented to over 360 recipients, including the President of Nepal, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, members of the Council of Ministers, senior government officials, ambassadors, business leaders, civil society representatives and friends of Bangladesh.

The consignment featured the GI-certified Khirshapat variety, sourced from orchards in Chapai Nawabganj, widely known as Bangladesh's mango-growing hub. The fruit was transported to Nepal through Banglabandha, Fulbari and Kakarbhitta border points to ensure freshness and quality.

The embassy said the initiative was part of its "Mango Diplomacy" programme aimed at strengthening goodwill and people-to-people ties between Nepal and Bangladesh.

In a statement, the embassy noted that the gesture symbolises the warmth and friendship shared by the two neighbouring countries and reflects efforts to further deepen bilateral relations.
