Bhaktapur to get Khowpa varsity soon

Bhaktapur, November 9:

Khowpa College, a community college promoted by the Bhaktapur Municipality, is making preparation to establish Khowpa University and Khowpa Medical College and Teaching Hospital in Bhaktapur district.

Inaugurating a week-long training on the construction of earthquake resistance building here today, Prem Suwal, president of the college management committee, said, “We have already initiated the process. But the government is delaying the process to provide us land for the construction of infrastructure,” he added.

He also said the college had asked the government to provide 108 ropanis of land in Sallaghari. “But the government is delaying the process of transferring the ownership of the land in college’s name,” he added.

The land originally belonged to the royal family but now belongs to government’s trust, Suwal said, adding: “Since the land belongs to the district, we should get it to promote education here.”

The training is being organised by Oxford University, Nepal Engineering College, Khowpa Engineering College, Institute of Industrial Science under the University of Tokyo, Indian Institute of Technology and National Society of Earthquake Technology.
