Bhattarai announces two-month campaign for Naya Shakti
KATHMANDU: Former Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai on Tuesday announced a two-month campaign for the formation of new political force.
After holding a closed session with his supporters, most of them coming from the Maoist party, for two days here in Kathamandu, Bhattarai held a press meet today to announce the first phase of Naya Shakti Nirman Abhiyan (campaign for building new force).
The gathering, which concluded yesterday, endorsed a nine-point proposal on contemporary issues.
He has made public the work division of as many as 11 leaders, including himself, for the campaign with an aim to reach out to people of various walks of life in all parts of the country.
Bhattarai remained as the central coordinator of the campaign, while his wife Hisila Yami would see the international department.
Likewise, Rajendra Kirati would head the Kirant-Limbuwan-Kochila, Ram Chandra Jha the Mithila Bhojpura, Ganga Shrestha the Newa, Devendra Parajuli the Tamuwan-Baglung-Myagdi, Bamdev Chhetri the Magarat-Awadh-Tharuwan, Bhakta Bahadur Shah the Bheri-Karnali and Nawaraj Subedi the Seti-Mahakali fronts.
Kumar Paudel, on the other hand, would take charge of the sister organisations while Ram Kumar Sharma the ethnic front.
Bhattarai quit the UCPN-Maoist in September to form a new political force.
