Bikers killed in assorted accidents
KATHMANDU: Police said two bikers died in separate road accidents in Kathmandu Valley on Sunday.
Rajendra Rai (37), a permanent resident of Chandranigahapur of Rautahat, succumbed to injuries he sustained after being hit by a tipper (Ba 3 Kha 7835) in Gaththaghar, Madhyapur Thimi-15 of Bhaktapur, yesterday.
Police said an assistant to the tipper driver was driving the vehicle while it hit the bike (Ba 58 Pa 7948) which the victim was riding.
Rai, a Nepal Army staffer deployed at the Suparetar Barrack in Hetaunda, had breathed his last while being taken to the nearby Nagarik Hospital.
Police meanwhile impounded the vehicle and arrested the driver.
The driver's assistant, however, is on the run.
In another case, the 70-year-old Krishna Bahadur Khanal died after a bike he was riding on (Ba 34 Pa 7609) was hit by another yet-to-be-identified bike in Kavresthali, Tarakeshwor of Kathmandu, on Sunday.
The permanent resident of Panchakanya-6 of Nuwakot district, Khanal had breathed his last during treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.
The other biker is on the run with his two-wheeler and the manhunt is on.
