Nidhi reiterates commitment to One China Policy
KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi said Nepal was committed to One China Policy and it would not allow any activities against China.
In a meeting with a visiting Chinese delegation of People's Congress of the Tibet Autonomous Region led by its President Padma Choling, Nidhi reiterated the stance, according to his aide Ramjee Dahal.
The duo discussed the purported visit of the Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal and bilateral relations between the two countries.
Nidhi, on the occasion, expressed that the visit would be a very important opportunity for Nepal to extend the bilateral ties.
Meanwhile, he requested the Chinese delegation to send more tourists to Nepal as a means to support Nepal’s economy.
DPM Nidhi also requested the Chinese government to resume trade activities via the Tatopani transit point, which was blocked following the April 25 earthquake, 2015.
The Chinese leader, in response, stated that the Chinese government would give priority to the reconstruction of Araniko Highway and work to strengthen the bilateral relations.
