Birth centenary of Hridaya

Kathmandu, May 20 :

The birth centenary of the Nepalbhasha poet Chittadhar Hridaya will be celebrated with various programmes in the capital on May 23.

Addressing a press conference here today, chairman of Nepalbhasha Parishad Phanindra Ratna Bajrachayra, said that the programmes would highlight the contribution of Hridaya and inspire the young generation to create more on their mother language.

Hridaya who was born in 1906 was involved in creating poems, essays and short stories to the extent that the Rana rules arrested him on charge of promoting mother language literature in 1940s.

According to the organisers, two separate programmes would be organised — in the morning a cultural rally would be held in the core of the capital, while in the afternoon a talk programme would be held at the City Hall.
