Bomb rumour causes panic

Kathmandu, January 27:

A rumour of bombs planted at the offices of KMC, Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City and Bhaktapur Municipality today created a panic there.

The rumour spread after an anonymous phone call to the Ministry of Local Development at Pulchowk saying that bombs were planted in the three local bodies offices.

Following the rumour, work at the offices was halted throughout this afternoon. Though a bomb disposal team searched the offices of KMC, LMC and BM, nothing was found.

Ganga Dutta Owasti, officiating secretary at the MoLD said he received the phone call and circulated the message to the local bodies. Jankanath Dhakal, a KMC official, said a man told him over phone that a bomb was planted at the KMC.
