BRB seeks political solution

Kathmandu, August 26

Former prime minister and Naya Shakti Party-Nepal Chair Baburam Bhattrai has urged the government to politically deal with cases related to Khadga Bahadur Biswakarma and Resham Chaudhari.

Police rearrested Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma, spokesperson for the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal, after the Supreme Court ordered his release on charges of extortion and attempted muder.

On the other hand, Rastriya Janata Party leader Chaudhari, who was elected a lawmaker in the parliamentary election, is in jail.

“I do not believe in the Chand-led party’s ideology, but they have every right to raise issues. He should be dealt with politically,” Bhattrai told the Parliament meeting today.

Bhattrai also demanded that Chaudhary be allowed to take the oath of office and secrecy as a lawmaker. “They should not be treated as a criminal,” he added.
