Break syndicate in all sectors, home minister tells police
Kathmandu, May 20
Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa today directed newly appointed police chiefs of all seven provinces to perform their duties and responsibilities targeting syndicate in different sectors.
Thapa called seven DIGs of the provinces, and acting chiefs of Metropolitan Police Office and Central Investigation Bureau to his office in Singha Durbar and reminded them that syndicate in any sector was acceptable to the government.
“The syndicate in transport sector has now been eliminated and now I direct you to break the syndicate in health services, education and vegetable markets, among others, in your respective working areas,” he said.
Minister Thapa also asked the DIGs to neutralise corruption and smuggling. “The ministry expects that you will be able to meet our performance indicators. The goal of this government is to achieve development and prosperity for which good governance will be the prerequisite. It is the responsibility of the home ministry, mainly Nepal Police, to maintain and promote good governance,” added Minister Thapa.
He also directed the provincial police chiefs to act against illegal harvesting of natural resources in their respective areas and initiate legal action against anyone who resorts to violence and anarchism.
Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Prem Kumar Rai and Inspector General of Police Sarbendra Khanal were also present at the meeting.
