Bus mishap-injured to get monthly pay

Kathmandu, May 5:

As many as 100 people who have been handicapped due to accidents involving buses belonging to the Araniko Yatayat Sewa Samiti would receive a monthly allowance of Rs 500 each for life. A meeting of Samiti held here recently decided to provide the allowance to the victims.

According to president of the Samiti Kedar Khatri Kshetri, around 100 people are expected to benefit from the decision. The disbursement of the allowance would begin on May 14. Currently, 336 buses belonging to the committee ply on the Araniko highway. The buses operate in Kavre, Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha and Ramechhap.

He said the Samiti has a total fund of around Rs 20 million and it plans to utilise the fund for social works that could benefit the passengers, transport workers and their families and the entrepreneurs.

He added that the Samiti provides Rs 200,000 compensation to the family of each passenger and transport worker killed in accidents involving its buses and Rs 300,000 compensation for others.
