CA need of hour, says CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Bhoj Raj Pokhrel today said every citizen should help the government to conduct constituent assembly election, as “it is the need of the hour”.
Releasing a book ‘Who Is Who of Nepali Women’ published by the Women’s Alliance for Peace, Power, Democracy and the Constituent Assembly, he said women can play a significant role in creating a trustworthy environment for polls.
Commenting on the book, he said: “This book has given a choice for political parties to select their candidates for the CA election.”
President of the Inter-Party Women’s Alliance Suprabha Ghimire stressed on unity among women’s organisations for raising their voices. Junko Sazaki, country representative of UNFPA, said that the book should be very much utilised for the CA polls.
Solheim’s praise
Kathmandu: Norwegian Minister for International Development, Erik Solheim, on Monday congratulated the women of Nepal on the occasion of the launching of ‘Who is Who of Nepali Women” database.
“It (the database) is a unique source to ensure rightful representation of women in the constituent assembly and all political institutions in the new inclusive democracy of Nepal,” said a press statement issued here today, quoting the minister. — HNS
