Cabinet meeting undecided on appointment of NP, APF chiefs

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Council of Ministers held today at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar, has concluded. This is the first Cabinet Meeting after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's return from his three day state visit to India.

The Cabinet remained undecided on appointment of Chiefs of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, which was expected to be deliberated over at the meeting. The chiefs of both security forces are due to retire on Wednesday, owing to the 30-year service term clause.

"There still is time for appointment of the IGPs, which will happen on time," Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota said.

Meanwhile, the meeting has appointed Rajiv Gautam as the secretary at the Ministry of Law. Likewise, Acting Secretary at the Law Ministry, Dilliraj Ghimire has been promoted to the post of Secretary and posted at the Prime Minister's Office, according to Minister Baskota.

Likewise, the Communications Minister informed that today's Cabinet meeting has decided to make an appeal to people at all levels of the state, including representatives and civil society, to assume the social responsibility of children who are deprived of access to education. "We have decided to make an appeal for all to assume voluntary guardianship of the kids who need education but have been deprived of the same, so far."

It has been learnt that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed members of the Council of Ministers to stay ready for another meeting to decide on the Inspector General of Nepal Police and of Armed Police Force.
