Cabinet reshuffle likely today

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is likely to announce a reshuffle in his cabinet today.  After a leg of party-meetings around the issue, the chairman duo met with President Bidya Devi Bhandari for further consultation at her office on Wednesday morning.

A meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) to be held this afternoon is said to finalise the names of new MPs that will be inducted to the cabinet in place of the ministers who, according to the Prime Minister, have performed underwhelmingly in these 21 months.

PM Oli, whose health condition has made multiple headlines of late, has been busy with a string of intra-party meetings in order to fortify the government following questions on his efficiency, and consecutively the government's.

In a bid to kick-start the 'pace-to-progress', Oli recently bade farewell to 'underperforming' members of his secretariat while introducing a few new faces.

We will be back with updates.
