Celebrating World Environment Day

KATHMANDU: ‘World Environment Day’ is celebrated on June 5 every year. This year, on the day, students studying of BA Ist and IInd Year of Sarovar College (previously Orbit Int’l College) participated in a cleaning programme. The event was organised by Presidential Business School, Buddhanagar.

The main theme of the event was “Himal Bachaun Batavaran Jogaun”. They carried out the cleaning campaign along with an environment awareness programme. There were around 270 students from 20 colleges. The event started with a rally from Presidential Business School, Buddhanagar to UN Park followed by the cleaning campaign at the park.

Moreover, a signature campaign was also conducted at New Baneshwor Chowk and Bijuli Bazaar bridge. ‘Less Pollution is the Best Solution’ was one of the slogans for this environment awareness campaign. Also, eco-friendly newspaper hand bags, made by the Presidential Business School students were distributed to the locals during the campaign.

Students learnt the importance of three Rs — reduce, reuse and recycle and the impacts of climate change on the environment at the event. During the programme, they also got knowledge about keeping environment clean, not using materials that produce chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) and planting trees to keep the environment clean, green and healthy.
