CEC Yadav apprises PM of poll preparations

KATHMANDU: Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadav on Friday apprised Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal of the preparations being held for the upcoming May 14 local level elections.

Yadav went to the PM's residence in Baluwatar this morning and informed the PM that the constitutional body was expediting preparations for the upcoming polls.

After the meeting, Yadav told media that he requested the Prime Minister to take all parties into confidence for the polls.

"The Election  Commission wishes that everyone would participate in the grand campaign on May 14."

Yadav, on the occasion, reminded Dahal that the PM still had enough time to hold dialogues with disgruntled parties to take them on board the election process.

"Many parties in and outside the Parliament have expressed their wishes to take part in the elections," he said, "The Commission is of the view that all Nepali people and political parties should take ownership of the polls."

In response, the PM assured Yadav that he would take initiatives to create a poll-conducive environment, the chief of constitutional body informed.
