KATHMANDU: Chief Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi has been admitted to hospital after contracting dengue, which is spreading like wildfire inside the valley.
Bairagi has been admitted to Minbhawan-based Civil Service Hospital after he showed symptoms of the ailment on the night of September 25. He is receiving treatment in ICU.
Bairagi's personal Secretary Gokul Basnet said the chief secretary showed serious physical symptoms like excessive rise of body temperature, headache, nausea, and body ache.
"Doctors referred him to the intensive care unit of the hospital after assessing his condition two days ago. The fever has come under control and he is gradually recovering at the hospital now," Basnet said.
