Chief Secy Ghimire under fire
KATHMANDU: Civil servants today strongly criticised Chief Secretary Madhav Prasad Ghimire, Home Secretary Dr Govinda Kusum and the Ministry of General Administration for their utter lack of concern towards the state of insecurity facing them in recent times.
Civil servants' reaction follows latest incident of slapping of Parsa CDO Durga Prasad Bhandari by State Minister Karima Begum.
Government employees said that they were saddened that the Chief Secretary was tight-lipped over the incident.
“Ghimire did not utter a word in defence of the civil servants,” said Rukma Lamichanne, President, National Civil Servants' Federation. “We also urged the chief secretary to release a statement condemning the attack on CDO, but he didn't, he added.
Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and the representatives from the Ministry of General Administration were conspicuously absent today at a talk programme on Singha Durbar premises called by different civil servants' organisations.
The theme of the programme was aptly titled as: “Security of civil servants.”
