China requested for scholarships

KATHMANDU: Ministry of Education (MoE) today urged the Chinese delegation which is on a three-day visit, to provide scholarship in medical science.

Talking to The Himalayan Times, Lekhnath Poudel, deputy spokesperson, MoE, said, "During the meeting held today the Ministry urged the Chinese delegation to provide the scholarship to the Nepalese students in medical science sector."

In response, the visiting Chinese delegation had said that the admission in medical science had already been closed but said they would consider applications for the next academic session. According to Poudel, the Chinese delegation would give them the list of colleges and faculties after holding a meeting in their own country, very soon.

The Chinese delegation had yesterday signed a memorandum in which it promised scholarships to meritorious Nepalese students to pursue their studies in China as part of promoting educational exchanges and enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

As per the MoU, China had agreed to receive students from Nepal at Tianjin University and to increase the number of such students from Nepal by up to 200. China had also agreed to provide full scholarship for up to 20 meritorious students from Nepal.
