KATHMANDU, MAY 12

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed another corruption case against the former executive director and other former employees of the Security Printing Centre. The charges include corruption in the procurement of security printing press-related machinery items.

On Sunday, the anti-graft body registered a case against former directors Bikal Poudel and Safal Shrestha, along with Navin Kumar Pokharel, an employee at the Ministry of Forest and Environment. They are alleged to have been involved in misappropriating funds amounting to over Rs 470 million.

According to CIAA Spokesperson Narahari Ghimire, the CIAA alleges that they intended to cause a loss to the government through the procurement for the security printing press by embezzling funds.

The CIAA is seeking additional punishment for the accused individuals, proportionate to the amount they are accused of misappropriating. Similarly, the spokesperson stated that an equal amount of recovery has been sought from the former accountant of the Centre, Khadga Bahadur Thapa, and the former section officer, Hari Ballav Ghimire.

Additionally, the CIAA has filed a case against another individual, Akbar Husain, CEO of Max International, seeking compensation equal to the alleged amount of money involved.
