CIAA files corruption case against nine
Kathmandu, May 15
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority today filed a corruption case at the Special Court against nine persons.
Seven of those arrested are former officials of the District Sports Development Committee, Darchula and two engineers of the District Technical Office.
The CIAA said the seven officials presented fake bills claiming that the sports development committee constructed a covered hall, while the engineers prepared a report on construction of the covered hall without monitoring its status.
Those booked include former coordinators of the sports development committee Manju Bam and Kalyan Singh Dhami, and its former members Bhupendra Raj Awasthi, Man Singh BK, Shyam Raj Awasthi, Dan Singh Niraula and Harish Chandra Bhatta. Likewise, the engineers are Shekhar Chandra Badu and Madan Raj Joshi.
The commission said they embezzled funds at different times from the National Sports Council.
The CIAA has sought action against seven former officials as per Section 8(1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002 and against two engineers as per Section 19(2) of the same Act.
