CIAA leaderless as commissioners retire
KATHMANDU: Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) - a constitutional anti-graft body- has been reeling under leadership vacuum.
The leadership void has been created following the retirement of two commissioners who had been leading the anti-graft body since three years. Acting Chief Commissioner Lalit Bahadur Limbu and Commissioner Beda Prasad Siwakoti are retiring from their positions tomorrow, completing their six years' office. The leadership vacuum is the first of its kind to hit the CIAA. The Constitutional Council (CC) has scheduled its meeting tomorrow to sort out the problem. A CIAA source said that the retirement of the commissioners and the subsequent void, could severely upset the anti-graft body's investigation and prosecution of corruption cases.
CIAA issues order
KATHMANDU: Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday issued an order to Land Revenue Office Chabahil to take action against section officer Durga Prasad Tiwari.
Tiwari was alleged to be involved in making fake land ownership documents.
The anti graft body in a press statement stated that Tiwari was involved in registering fake documents of lands. CIAA expressed concerns over staffers failing to perform their assigned task.
