CJ Mishra administers oath to new CIAA chief Ghimire

KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra on Thursday administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Navin Kumar Ghimire.

In the presence of President Bidya Devi Bhandari, CJ Mishra administered the oath to Ghimire amid a special ceremony organised at Sheetal Niwas.

Also present on the occasion were Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, chief secretary, secretaries, chiefs of security bodies among other VIPs.

PHC endorses Ghimire as new CIAA chief

The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) has endorsed Navin Kumar Ghimire as the Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

A meeting of the committee today unanimously endorsed Ghimire as the new Chief Commissioner.

The Committee conducted hearings of Ghimire prior to its approval to appoint him as the chief commissioner of the CIAA, according to committee's senior most member Laxman Lal Karna.

Karna shared that Ghimire was approved unanimously after reflecting on his presentation, action plan, capability and experiences required to lead the ombudsman body.

Ghimire had presented his action plan to control corruption and irregularities under his leadership while assuring to lead the constitutional body with collective efforts.

He was leading the institution since February 14, 2018 as the acting chief.
