CJ urges subordinates to uphold transparency
KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Chief Justice Anup Raj Sharma today urged judges and judicial staff to keep the judiciary “a clean institution”.
Speaking at a programme organised by Judicial Officers’ Society to welcome him and bid farewell to the outgoing CJ, Sharma said, “If I’m involved into controversy, then the whole judiciary will suffer. Therefore, we should concentrate in it collectively,” Sharma said. He also called other professionals to help the judiciary function well.
Stating that the country has been treading through a path full of problems, CJ Sharma called judges and court staffers to perform their duties seriously.
“If the judiciary cannot work effectively being
an assertive institution,
it will face further problems,” he added.
Sharma further said that the judges would deserve no honour and trust unless they delivered in people’s favour and interest. “The people too should get their space in judiciary in a respectable manner,” he added.
Retiring CJ Min Bahadur Rayamajhi called the judicial staffs to carry out duties so as to protect the image of the judiciary. He also urged the staffs to assist the new CJ in his noble cause as the results would solely depend on their performance. Hemanta Rawal, general secretary of the society, expressed commitment on behalf of the 5,000 judicial staffers to assist the CJ in his reform programmes. He, however, urged the CJ to evaluate their performance in a fair manner in relation to their personal growth.
