Clarification sought from Hajj panel
KATHMANDU: Speakers at a programme organised by the Public Account Committee (PAC) regarding expenditure process of Central Hajj Committee-2065 today stressed on seeking further clarification from the then Home Minister Bamdev Gautam and other stakeholders.
PAC Chairperson Ram Krishna Yadav said action would be taken against the then Home Minister, Home Secretary, Auditor General, Hajj Committee Chairperson as it was found that $ 139 more were spent more (than what was allocated) on each of the 449 Hajj pilgrims and 26 others who were engaged in managing the Hajj journey.
Usha Gurung, a member of sub-committee formed by the PAC to investigate into the issue, said anyone found guilty would be brought to book. She claimed that though $ 1,339 were spent for each person, they were not provided with enough facilities. Constituent Assembly member Dhanraj Gurung said seeking clarification from those found guilty would not be enough, rather they should be brought to justice.
