KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 10
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Ashokraj Sigdel departed for India on Tuesday at the formal invitation of his Indian counterpart, General Upendra Dwivedi.
According to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepal Army, COAS Sigdel's official visit to India is scheduled from December 11 to 14. The nine-member delegation, led by COAS Sigdel, also includes Neeta Kshetry Sigdel, Chairperson of the Army Wives Association and spouse of the Army Chief.
As part of the visit, the President of India will confer the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army on Chief Sigdel during a ceremony on December 12. Additionally, he is set to hold meetings with several high-ranking Indian officials.
The delegation, including the Army Chief, is expected to return to Nepal on December 15. In his absence, Lieutenant General Pradeep Jung KC has been designated as the acting Chief of Army Staff.
