Cold spell to stay for two days
KATHMANDU: The sudden outburst of gloomy weather over central and western part of the country apparently triggered by cyclones in India, is likely to remain for two more days, meteorologists said here today.
Kathmandu received a drizzle bringing chill this evening, signifying that the winter has begun, said Rajendra Prasad Shrestha, senior meteorologist at the Meteorology Forecasting Division.
For climbers, the day marked the beginning of the end of climbing season, Shrestha said.
“The Phyan cyclone in the Arabian Sea formed clouds in the air that drifted to Nepal. But the cloud is moving much higher now so the weather will be fair within the next 48 hours,” he said. The air temperature which has been hovering around 10 degree thus far will come down to 5 degree in a few days, added Shrestha.
However, the meteorologists have ruled out the possibility of snow fall this early.
