Communications Minister Karki returns from Beijing

KATHMANDU: Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki arrived home last night after attending the international conference on ‘One Belt One Road’ initiative held in Beijing, the capital city of China.

Talking to mediapersons upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Minister Karki expressed the confidence that the OBOR initiative would play a significant role in infrastructure development, expansion of rail network, operation of Nepal-China border points and enhancement of trade for Nepal.

Minister Karki had left for Beijing last Friday to attend the conference held from May 14 to 15. Some 1,200 delegates including Heads of state and governments of 29 countries, 100 ministers and an equal number of representatives of various organisations took part in the conference.

Minister Karki and the Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ramesh Lekhak comprised an eight-member Nepali delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Krishna Bahadur Mahara to take part in the conference in China.
