Kathmandu, March 6:
Though records in the Valley Crime Investigation Branch (VCIB), Hanumandhoka, show increasing number of looting and robbery cases in the Valley, the registers at the prosecution section of Kathmandu District Police Office are showing a decrease in the number of crimes in Kathmandu. The total number of crimes was 346 in the month of January-February, according to VCIB. The number was 352 in December-January and it was 360 the previous month. The prosecution section of the KDPO shows only 131 criminal cases were brought to court in January-February. The number of cases prosecuted in December-January was 122 and the number was 145 in November-December. All cases don’t necessarily go to court, said Ganesh KC, deputy superintendent of police at the Kathmandu District Police office.
