Constable injured as pistol goes off accidentally

Kathmandu, December 22

A police constable was injured after a pistol went off at Metropolitan Police Sector, Lakuri Bhanjyang, last night.

According to police, constable Roshan Shrestha received injuries to  his face when assistant sub-inspector Ramesh Tamang’s pistol suddenly went off while he was unloading it in his bedroom inside the police station. The incident took place at around 9:15pm.

Shrestha’s duty station is at Disaster Management Division, Samakhusi. According a press release issued by police after the incident, both Shrestha and Tamang are friends and hail from Baiteshwor Rural Municipality-2, Dolakha. Shrestha had gone to Lakuri Bhanjyang-based police sector to meet his friend.

The injured constable was rushed to Kist Hospital in Imadol, Lalitpur, and was later referred to Nepal Police Hospital in Maharajgunj.

A five-member investigation team led by DSP Gautam Mishra has been formed to probe into the incident.
