KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 2
Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has stated that any amendment to the constitution will be based on national consensus, with both the ruling and opposition parties playing a key role in the process.
"In accordance with the constitution, necessary amendments can be made after ten years. We can assess its implementation so far and introduce changes as needed," he said while inaugurating the administrative building of Marsyangdi Rural Municipality in Bhulbhule, Lamjung.
He emphasized that both parties would first identify the provisions requiring amendment and then engage all stakeholders to ensure broad acceptance. "The constitution cannot be amended without national consensus," he reiterated, adding, "However, it is not set in stone. It is a dynamic document that must evolve with time."
The Minister further stressed, "We have always maintained that the constitution should be need-based and aligned with the nation's development and prosperity."
Addressing economic concerns, Minister Gurung asserted that the current government has pulled the economy out of a coma and is steering it toward gradual recovery. He defended the introduction of ordinances, stating they are aimed at revitalizing the national economy, expediting development projects, and ensuring good governance.
Additionally, he highlighted key legislative efforts, including upcoming bills on social media regulation, civil service reforms, education, and security forces such as the police and armed police.
The government, he assured, remains committed to fostering investment and industrial development in the country.
