Constitutional bench formed to interpret constitutional issues: Attorney General

KATHMANDU: Attorney General Agni Prasad Kharel said the Supreme Court has the final right to interpret the constitution. And since the constitutional bench alone adjudicated on serious constitutional questions, cases in the constitutional court could not be transferred to any other bench.

The Attorney General expressed this view on a question put forth by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana during the hearing of dissolution of House of Representatives case, today.

"The Court is transparent. Cases seen by the extended full bench also come to the constitutional bench," the Attorney General said.

He added that the constitutional bench was constituted to purely interpret constitutional matters.
