Contempt of court case filed against two RPP leaders

Kathmandu, August 23

Janardan Banjade and Shiva Subedi today filed contempt of court case against Rastriya Prajatantra Party leaders Rajendra Lingden and Kunti Kumari Shahi for making contemptuous remarks against the Supreme Court.

Spokesperson for the Supreme Court Narayan Prasad Panthi said Banjade and Subedi stated in their petition that the two leaders made contemptuous remarks against the Supreme Court on the social networking sites.

Shahi is a lawmaker of Kamal Thapa led RPP.

A single bench of Justice Tej Bahadur KC had, on Monday, stayed the Election Commission’s decision to re-verify the signatures of the leaders who had signed the document submitted by Pashupati Shamsher JB Rana to form a new Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Democratic).

Rana has claimed that he had the support of 40 per cent Central Committee members and Parliamentary Party members and his party should be given recognition as a new party.
