KATHMANDU, MAY 14

The vote counting of mayoral elections for Kathmandu Metropolitan City has begun.

Although officials had plans to begin the counting process from late Friday night, the same could only proceed after rounds of meetings between representatives of the mayoral candidates.

Earlier today, an all-party meeting was held following which the count kicked off.

The process will begin with unfolding and tallying votes of Wards 1 and 32 of the metropolis.

All eyes are on the results for KMC as not only it will be seen as a battle of prestige between candidates of political heavyweights Nepali Congress and CPN-UML for the top executive post of the capital city, this election has also garnered a lot of interest due to immense popularity of independent candidate Balen Shah.
