Couple held for cheating

Ward police office Bouddha has arrested a couple on fraud charge and send them to the district police office Hanumandhoka here on Friday.

Ram Bahadur Bohara from Sindhupalchok and his wife Shova have been accused of cheating their neighbours by asking favours said the police source. “They had been asking their neighbours of Bouddha area to lend their gold jewellery for attending marriage parties and would run away from their rented room once they got it,” he said.

It was disclosed when they borrowed gold chains, rings and ear tops from Krishna Humangain’s wife Maya and Narayan Khanal’s wife Nirmala to attend marriage party of a relative. “First they paid the room rent by selling a chain and packed off to another area,” the police said.

The cheated couples are running small tea shops in the area. They got suspicious as they saw the couple leaving their room with their belongings and reported to the police.

The police arrested them on Thursday night from nearby Mahankal area. They have already confessed their crime but were reluctant to report other cases of similar nature.

“The wife seem to be the designer of the ‘trade’ as she tried to escape our questions so cunningly,” said the source. “We have send them to the district police office for further interrogation by women police officials. Bouddha police station has no police women.

However, police personnel claim it was the first case of its kind reported so far.
