Cover more economic issues: Basnyat
Kathmandu, January 4
Chair of Confederation of Nepalese Industries Narendra Kumar Basnyat today said that media should not merely disseminate news but should also give its opinion and reflect changes in society.
Addressing a programme organised to welcome the newly elected office bearers of Media Society Nepal, Basnet said media outlets were still focusing mainly on political issues and were not giving adequate space to economic issues.
Newly elected Chair of MSN Pushkar Lal Shrestha also said the media should give adequate space to issues related to business and economy. Media organisations, he added, should join hands with the private sector to highlight the slogan of ‘business first.’
Similarly, industrialist Binod Chaudhary said media and private sector needed to forge partnership for change.
Senior Vice-chair of CNI Hari Bhakta Sharma said there should be institutional partnership between media and the private sector to ensue change in the country.
Vice-chair of MSN Raju Prasad Kadel and Ujjwal Sharma, General Secretary Shubha Shankar Kadel, Secretary Madan Lamsal, Treasurer Shishir Bhatta, CNI Vice-chair Shashi Kant Agrawal and Yogeshwar Lal Shrestha were also present on the occasion.
