Maoists' duty to safeguard republic, federalism: Dahal
KATHMANDU: It is CPN Maoist Centre's responsibility to safeguard the republic, federalism, secularism and proportional electoral system as they were achieved through blood and sweat of the party cadres, Maoist Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said.
"Those who were against these agendas and fought against them do not have any affection for federalism and republic," Dahal said, adding that it would be stupidity to expect them to safeguard these agendas.
He was speaking at a meeting of the party's Dalit Morcha.
Expressing his commitment to hold the local level elections, Dahal added, "Elections have been announced in local level. Elections should be held at any cost. Maoists' agendas are connected with the local elections... Constitution has provided rights to the local level. Thus, elections should be held to deliver people's rights to villages."
