KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 25
CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the need to create an election-friendly atmosphere.
Speaking at a party programme here today, he underscored the importance of ensuring a peaceful environment for the upcoming election. "If this is ensured, the party will participate in the election," he stated.
According to Oli, an election-friendly environment cannot be fostered amid fear and insecurity. He stressed that it is the government's responsibility to address security challenges in view of the election scheduled for March 5.
The former Prime Minister added that he attended a recent meeting convened by President Ramchandra Paudel, during which he clarified that the party is not opposed to the election but does not endorse any regressive measures.
He further argued that it would be inappropriate to seek clarifications from the former Prime Minister and Home Ministers regarding the security actions of September 8, as the security forces acted after assessing the situation in order to protect public property and ensure self-defense.
