KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML on Thursday obstructed the Parliament proceedings against the Constitution amendment bill that the government registered at the Parliament Secretariat. Taking special time at the beginning of today’s meeting, UML Vice-Chairman and lawmaker Bamdev Gautam criticised the government for registering the amendment bill without his party’s consent. Leader Gautam warned that his party would not let the House proceed with its business unless the government rectified its decision.

Following the obstruction, Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar announced that the meeting was postponed till 3 pm on Friday. Earlier on Wednesday, the Parliamentary Party meeting of UML had concluded that the amendment to the Constitution was against the country’s interests.
