CPN-UML to hold CC meeting today

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML’s Standing Committee on Thursday set the agenda for the Central Committee (CC) meeting scheduled for Friday.

The CC is likely to discuss the division of work among the members and the future course of action. It will also adopt the party’s statute that was endorsed at the eighth General Convention held at Butwal in February. Party president Jhala Nath Khanal will table a political report, focusing on the ongoing political stalemate that arose following the resignation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who led the coalition government for around eight months.

According to party sources, Madhav Kumar Nepal is the unanimous choice to lead the next coalition government. “We won’t have any problems in selecting the individual to lead the new coalition. The CC meet will elect Politburo, comprising 29 full-fledged and 10 alternative members,” said Shankar Pokharel, UML secretary.

Similarly, the UML will expand the 11-member Standing Committee which will be decided by the CC.
