UML won't allow parliament to function until lawmakers recall impeachment against CJ

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwar Pokhrel has said that his party would not allow the parliament to function if the impeachment motion against Chief Justice Sushila Karki was not taken back. The Legislature-Parliament is meeting later on Thursday.

Speaking at a press meet organised at the party's headquarters this morning, General Secretary Pokhrel said it was wrong to introduce such a motion all of sudden, just for the reason that the government did not get a ruling in its favour.

The motion was registered last Sunday at the parliament with signatures from a total of 249 members of parliament representing the ruling Nepali Congress and CPN Maoist Centre.

On a different note, General Secretary Pokhrel said the alliance in the upcoming local elections was based on the local needs and issues, and to ensure victory.
